The 12 Faithful Women: A Developing Series

Twelve Women of Faith is a developing portrait series exploring the lives of twelve women whose stories unfold throughout Scripture.

Each painting considers a woman within the complexity of her own story: her choices, circumstances, relationships, faith, uncertainty, courage, and encounter with God. Rather than presenting these women as distant figures, the series approaches them as individuals whose lives still invite reflection.

The portraits are created slowly, allowing research, Scripture, symbolism, and the painting process to shape each work. Together, the twelve pieces will form a larger meditation on faith expressed through ordinary human lives.

This work in progress offers an early glimpse into the series as it continues to develop.

The first portrait in the series is Sarah, a woman whose life was shaped by movement, waiting, uncertainty, and promise. She spent much of her story between places, leaving what was familiar for an inheritance she could not yet see. Inspired by Matthew 6:19, her portrait reflects on the temporary things we gather and the deeper legacy formed through faith. Sarah’s greatest inheritance was not something she could store or possess. It was held in the promises of God and in a story that would continue long beyond her lifetime.
